Alumni Lifeguards Give Back to DeSales Catholic School
It's 'all hands on deck' to run a swim practice for the DeSales Knights Swim Team. DeSales alumni, Riley Adams and John Killion are often seen at the Knights' swim practices working together as lifeguards, ensuring all swimmers are safe. This duo not only graduated from DeSales together, but they were the valedictorian and salutatorian respectively of the DeSales Class of 2014. "We love to see our former students, and swimmers come give back to the program where they got their start," said team coordinator, Marisa Morgan. "Both are model students with a passion for swimming. They are excellent role models for our young athletes."
Both Riley and John are high honor students at their respective high schools. Riley who is a junior at Lockport High School, is a member of the Lady Lions varsity swim team, a NYS swim team qualifier, a member of the Destination Imagination team, Interact Club member, Forum Yearbook staff, Concert Choir member and a participant in Leadership Gym. She works part time at Niagara County Produce and is also an alter server at her church, St John the Baptist, in Lockport.
John, is a junior at Canisius High School, is a member of the WNY Bass Masters Club, an avid fisherman and hunter of small game. He has participated in several Junior PGA Championship golf tournaments, is a former member of the freshman & JV basketball teams at Canisius and has intentions on joining the Canisius swim team this winter. John is a member of Clarence Swim Club and also works with the Clarence Learn to Swim Program.
DeSales Catholic School is just one of the twenty teams that compete in the Neumann Catholic Swim League. The season begins the first week of school, ending with the Neumann Catholic Swim League Championship meet to be held on Sunday, November 13th at the University at Buffalo.
