BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Children helped to cut the ribbon on a new playground that they will enjoy at a Catholic school in the Queen City.
Bishop Richard Malone was on hand for the ribbon cutting; he performed a special blessing at the ceremony Wednesday afternoon at the Notre Dame Academy on Abbott Road.
Notre Dame's principal said she knows the students will enjoy this new feature. "We did not have anything prior to this, " Kimberly Suminski said. "We had a nice hill of dirt and grass, we don't have much green area. I've been here since 2006 and it's been a dream to have a playground."
Notre Dame won a $30,000 grant from Dannon Yogurt's Rally for Recess contest, allowing the school the ability to construct the playground.
