Common Core State Standards Initiative Wikipedia
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is an educational initiative in the United States that details what K-12 students should know in English language arts and mathematics at the end of each grade. The initiative is sponsored by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and seeks to establish consistent educational standards across the states as well as ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to enter credit-bearing courses at two- or four-year college programs or to enter the workforce.
The Council of the Great City Schools has designed this Common Core Works website to provide member districts quick access to reliable information, tools, and resources for implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics, and the Next Generation Science Standards. For example, you will find English Language Arts/Literacy videos or Mathematics videos that can be used for professional development as well as Parent Roadmaps that will help you communicate grade-level standards to parents and the community.
Use this site to find updates on current Common Core initiatives, projects, conferences, and opportunities to network across districts to support quality instruction and raise student achievement!
