Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

catholic schools week

Catholic Schools Week aims to celebrate the achievement, goals, and future of faith based education in the United States.  The theme, "Faith, Knowledge, and Service, encompasses three measures by which any Catholic school can and should be judged."  Each Buffalo Catholic school has its own community, based on the families and faculty of their particular school/parish, but we are all members of a larger community of home, church, city, and nation.

Here are the daily themes for this year's Catholic Schools Week:

Sunday Jan 31 - Celebrating Your Parish

Private schools in Buffalo and WNY benefit from the religious guidance a parish provides.  This is the time to help your private elementary students understand the magnitude of how much their faith community provides whether your church is attached to your school or not.

Monday Feb 1 - Celebrating Your Community

One of the most important aspects of a faith based education is learning the importance of service to others.   Elementary and high school students in WNY take part in a wide variety of community service activities from food and clothing drives, writing and visiting our veterans, the  sick and elderly to assisting new immigrants by providing household items, winter clothing and supplies.  These acts demonstrate their faith and values.

Tuesday Feb 2 - Celebrating Your Students

This is the day when WNY Catholic schools, both elementary and secondary, take the time to provide meaningful, enjoyable activities to recognize their dedication to Catholic education.  We encourage all students of private schools in WNY to reflect on the benefits of attending a Buffalo Catholic school, and how a Catholic school education will provide them with a future full of promise.

Wednesday Feb 3 - Celebrating the Nation

Wednesday is the day where private schools of WNY take time to recognize the benefit of Catholic schools to the greater good of our entire nation.  Celebrate our leaders, and those who defend our freedom, and help students to understand the magnitude of their commitment to faith and service to community.

Thursday Feb 4 - Celebrating Vocations

National Catholic Schools Week offers students the opportunity to explore the many paths available to use their talents, along with making the world a better place.

Friday Feb 5 - Celebrating Faculty, Staff, & Volunteers

Educators, teachers, principals, staff, and administrators all play a significant role in the spiritual growth of Catholic school students.  It is also important to show appreciation for the volunteers; parents, families, alumni, parishioners, whose dedication adds to the betterment of our private school students.

Saturday Feb 6 - Celebrating Families

Parents, Grandparents, guardians, brothers and sisters. Every person in the whole family plays a major role a student's Catholic education. They, (you) are one of the most important parts of a successful faith based education. You instill the values of faith, knowledge, and service at home. You are the reason your child has the opportunity to attend a Catholic school, and you are greatly appreciated!
