The BDFHSA held its first general meeting of the 2014-'15 school year on October 22nd at St. Andrew's Country Day School.  Over 65 parents representing 29 schools were in attendance.  Parent representatives heard updates on the STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Math) initiative as well as the STREAM Academies currently taking place in most of our schools.  Speakers also informed the parents regarding the 2015 Catholic Charities campaign; the SnowBall - the student fundraiser supporting tuition assistance for Catholic education; and important legislation before the NY State legislature regarding tax credits for non-public schools.  Roundtable discussions on finance, fundraising, STREAM partnerships, volunteerism, spirituality and marketing were also held to provide the opportunity for parents to learn about what is happening at other schools, share ideas and offer suggestions for those with challenges in the topic areas.

A post meeting survey revealed that 100% of those who attended would like another meeting.  Plans for a potential spring general meeting will be taken up at the next BDFHSA's executive board meeting.

All parents/guardians with children in one of our Catholic elementary schools are welcome to join the BDFHSA. Interested parties may contact Ginny Wallace at VWallace@buffalodiocese.org for more information.
