Preparing Students for the Larger World
Students at many of our Catholic schools are provided the opportunity to study a second language to enrich their world view. Students begin with simple listening and speaking skills, as early as elementary grades. Instruction progresses to include both reading and writing of the language. Culture, customs, geography and economy/business, religion and art expression are all components in foreign language study. Students benefit from international understanding and celebrating diversity of people and cultures. This experience with another culture enables students to achieve a significantly more profound understanding of their own culture. Languages offered vary at individual schools and include French, Spanish and Latin. In addition, several of our high schools now offer Mandarin Chinese and German.
