End of Summer Outdoor FunAug. 14th, 2015 11:02 am
You can't truly experience the awe and wonder of a living breathing animal without seeing it in person.
The Buffalo Zoo is an experience unlike anything else in WNY. Students and families of Catholic schools can see animals they won't see anywhere else. What you may not know, is that there are a bunch of educational workshops and programs for kids of all ages beyond just taking a walk around the zoo. They offer new on-site school programs for elementary school and Buffalo high school students, the Cub Club Preschool program for the little ones (ages 2-4), as well as Buffalo Zoo seasonal camps for ages 5-12. The zoo is a great place for exploring the science portion of the STREAM curriculum.

Forest Lawn Cemetery
Beautiful artistic sculptures, naturally beautiful hills, lakes, and streams, and history of some of WNY's most well-known people. A cemetery? Forest Lawn is more than that. A living art, and historical museum, and a beautiful park. Forest Lawn's award-winning tours allow families to experience the beauty and intrigue of one of the country's largest and most beautiful resting spots, right here in Buffalo NY! There are so many lessons and experiences that await students of Catholic schools at Forest Lawn. Take a guided tour into the lore of Buffalo history, enjoy the beauty of the natural solitude, or study the amazing art with your family. What a great opportunity to explore science art and history! There is also a new Achive and Resource Center, where you can research WNY history, or learn more about your own family history.

Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve
In today's world, we tend to forget the serenity and tranquility of a simple nature walk. Reinstein Woods is a 292-acre nature preserve and education center in Depew that offers students of Catholic elementary schools the chance to become one with nature. One of only seven protected nature preserves in New York State, you and your family will enjoy beautiful paths, and encounter many species of WNY wildlife. They offer several hands on educational programs for elementary school and high school students of WNY. The kids might learn something to talk about this fall when it's Back to School! They also offer summer education workshops for teachers and guided tours. What a wonderful way to spend a summer day with the family!
